Giving Tuesday

Team, I know it’s been a long time. I… have started so many posts, only to get caught up in the “real life” pull that is going on. However, just like every fall I have been voraciously reading something that seems to fall out of my life a bit more during the summer. However, I will get back to my regularly scheduled content, but I promise this is important.

For those that have been around for a while, you’ll know that every year I participate in National Novel Writing Month which is where people from all over the world come together to attempt to write a novel in 30 days. By a novel we mean approximately 50,000 words. It’s not a small feat, and though I’ve participated every year since 2016, I’ve yet to reach 50k. I’ve gotten close a number of times, but for the last few life has gotten in the way.

What I love about NaNo however, is the communities that crop up from it. One of those is an organization that I am happy to be a part of called The Mighty Pens. The Mighty Pens is an organization that one of my favorite authors, Susan Dennard, helped found that works in tandem with NaNoWriMo. For those that participate, we use NaNo as a relay race, the more words we write hopefully the more folks will donate to our fundraiser.

Our charity that we are fundraising for this year is Direct Relief. This charity works to equip health professionals in resource-poor communities to meet the challenges of diagnosing and caring for people in need. Additionally, when disasters strike, Direct Relief responds fast, effectively, and efficiently to get medical resources where they need to be to save lives.

As tomorrow is Giving Tuesday if any of you would want to donate that would mean so much. Nothing is too small, and even $5 is more than what we had before! If you can’t don’t even worry about, I just figured there might be some folks here who would be interested in not only making my but get into gear for the last two days, but to help an amazing cause.
