Hey team! I’m popping on to tell you about this wonderful site that I recently learned about. I promise to have more reviews for you coming soon, but I’m currently working on my thesis and as I work in health policy I’ve been nothing but busy the last few months.
However, during this hard time I want to remind everyone to think of their local indie bookstores. I adore mine and I don’t want them to go out of business. Bookshop.org has come onto the scene they split cost equally with indie sellers, those who have shops to promote, and themselves to keep the administrative costs running. It works great for influencers ( I still feel weird if I call myself one, but it’s true) who get a larger payback here than they do at Amazon, and it helps keep our indie stores running. I’ve got three in the DC area that have joined on. You can choose to shop at ‘my store‘ or you can find a local indie and they get a larger cut of the pie.
I’ve signed up with them to affiliate. Hopefully I’ll be able to integrate the books into my reviews so you can buy them from you local indie on bookshop.org instead of on Amazon. I understand how Amazon has been so helpful for so many, but I want to make sure that we don’t lose those indie bookstores.
I’ve only started with one list, but you can see some of my 5 Star Reviews here if you want something to read during this pandemic.
My last bit of advice from you resident public health expert. Stay home if you can, even if it’s hard. I’d rather have a hard month or two, and keep the majority of those at risk safe than chance losing them. Wash your hands, get plenty of sleep, and treat yourself and those around you gently and with kindness. This is unprecedented territory. Lets spread compassion instead of panic. I’m always here to talk!
