Alrighty team. My book pile I’m currently reading is extremely disgruntled, because while I’m thoroughly enjoying the books I’m reading I decided to start and finish a brand new novel in one sitting.
Sometimes a book (or world) and it’s characters get into your blood. Which can be the only reason that I sat down at 10pm on a Monday (no less of a week where I will be spending several late/sleepless nights at the office) and decided reading until 2am was a good idea. And actually, it was.
Persuasion came back to us and fulfilled all the promises the Trickery had laid at our feet. In this novel, our characters continue to grow, and this time we get to learn of their sordid histories. And honestly when we are talking about some of the Gods, sordid is probably the best descriptor.
Not only do we get more information about the characters, but we meet more of the Gods of Topia, and more of the world of Topia itself. I have a feeling we’ll see a lot more of the undiscovered areas of Topia in future books and I cannot wait. The new dynamics bring fresh air and more chances to see who exactly our characters are. And let me tell you there seems to be more brewing than we are able to see.
Yet again, Persuasion didn’t disappoint in its relationships, which honestly where I was the most worried. Willa and the Abcurse brothers dynamic hadn’t changed from book one, but instead grows the further along in their relationship we get. Not only do we understand more about the Abcurse boys, but we are introduced into Cyrus the understated sexy loner God who seems entertained and frustrated by Willa. I have a feeling we will see a lot more of Cyrus in the future and I’m not complaining.
However, perhaps what to me was one of the most important part of the book was Willa’s relationship with Emmy. There isn’t just one kind of love in this novel. There is familial love between the boys, romantic love/feelings in the harem, and the love of true friendship with Willa and Emmy. I don’t know if you’ve found that person out there who is willing to… go as far as Emmy does (promise no spoilers!), but I hope you do. The love of true friendship can be so hard to demonstrate with it being misread. But Persuasion covers it so well. The trust, love, worry, and sheer ferocity that comes with it. Something I feel is glossed over in other stories.
Eve & Washington are able to seamlessly weave together very human characters, class strife, more delicious reverse harem moments, more humor than I’d seen in a high fantasy novel, and an ever growing plot line. Once again in the Curse of the Gods series, I highly recommend this fast read novel that leaves you wanting more.
Book: 4.5 Stars – once again the pacing seemed slightly off skew, however it’s such a fast read that at times I didn’t even notice.

I found this series easy to read and follow! It is a Fantasy Read but on the lighter side and I so enjoyed it! CotG is a perfect series for someone who wants to read RH. I think the authors have established the plot and the romance really well.
