Noticing a theme team? Me too, I’ve needed some romance in my life. Boy does this deliver. Think of it as a halloween hallmark movie, just what you need for some feel good (and spicy) love.
With immediate chemistry, banter for days, a cute small college town, past heartbreak, and a curse to put them on a deadline Vivi and Rhys are just what you need to pull you out of a slum, or give yourself a little break from the drudgery of the every day.
While this light and fun book is a fast read, I’ve been thinking about the setting and the characters whenever I get a spare minute. Vivi’s cousin is absolutely great at being the perfect foil, and for speaking her mind exactly as she sees it. We all need a Gwyn in our lives. Also Graves Glen is the cutest town, with great history and it provides the best setting–libraries, college campus, witchy family shops, magical caves, and haunted houses galore. I wish I could go visit!
Rhys is hot. There’s no other way around it. Tall, dashing, and smart-mouthed (with a welsh accent!) I don’t blame Vivi a second for going back to the arms of her ex. And Vivi herself is true to who she is. There’s an entire scene focused on being a badass in her favorite dress that had me cheering. We need more gentle leads who are brave in their own way, and wearing whatever they want.
Now let me tell you the tropes are abound in this one, but I loved it. I loved the ending even more as I wasn’t sure how she was going to pull our two dumb idiots together for good, because team even with smart people, love can make us, and in this case Rhys and Vivi, very dumb. While this is the most aesthetically pleasing book I’ve read in a while it also has a plot that just clicks.
Perfect for a self care weekend this little cotton candy fluff of a book is just what I needed. I hope you love it as much as I did!
