Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

Whoops! This was supposed to come out while I was on vacation, and guess who messed up. It was me.

I’m beyond late to the ball game in reading Fangirl, however it was absolutely lovely. You can tell that this came out when I was going to college, it was the hey-day of fanfiction (or at least Fanfiction.net) and this book reads like a flash back to memories.

I think that’s the biggest appeal the Rowell was able to put into this book, it is a book based characters and growth. It deals with hard topics, and a harder time period. Everyone who’s just leaving their parent’s home has so many emotions going on. I loved getting to know the twins.

Through the heart break, the funny moments, the hard family challenges, and the drudge of making it through classes this book spoke down to the girl I used to be. It’s a comforting read, that will having you bawling. But it seems almost cathartic.

This book is for the day dreamers. For the girls who still don’t know who they are. For those who are too cautious. For everyone who found pieces of themselves in fanfiction. For those who were terrified of growing up. This is for all of us.

I highly recommend it. And if the middle leaves you hot mess of tears, come find me, I’m happy to talk!
